Daily fishing verdict · 2026-07-06

Water cooled two degrees — smallmouth may stir, cautiously.

Published: 2026-07-06 Written from: the dock at 1511 Oak Orchard River Rd, Waterport, NY

Temp dropped to 74°F overnight, which is a small but welcome move in the right direction for smallmouth. The catch is that the daily DO range has been stuck between 3 and 3.9 mg/L — genuinely stressed water with no real afternoon recovery window to speak of. Worth a try if you're out there, but temper expectations until we see that oxygen ceiling lift.
